What Can I Do?

Many lotions and creams are available without a prescription that are helpful in mild cases of acne. For more severe cases of acne, there are prescription creams and lotions. Some contain antibiotics to help get rid of the bacteria that contribute to the formation of acne pimples. In some cases, oral antibiotics may be given. Other treatments work to get rid of the pimples and keep them from coming back. 101E Acne Getaway® falls under this category.

A dermatologist can physically extract some kinds of acne pimples, especially blackheads. But this kind of procedure should only be performed by a dermatologist or other skilled professional. Never try to squeeze or pick your own acne pimples. This can result in infection and permanent scarring. in many cases, dermatologists will recommend a combination of two or more treatments for their patients with acne.

Acne can't be "cured," but it can be controlled -- with a little patience. Most pimples heal on their own if left alone. With most acne treatments, you may not see results for six to eight weeks, and your skin is likely to get worse before it gets better. With Acne Getaway® you should see positive results within the first few weeks. No matter what treatment regimen ends up working for you, it does not substitute for good basic skin care:

Keep it simple:

Wash your face twice a day with a gentle soap or facial cleanser. It's important not to wash too often as this may actually aggravate your acne. Use moisturizers on an as-needed basis; use water-based "non-comedogenic" makeup.

Products such as facial scrubs, astringents, and masks are generally not recommended because they tend to irritate skin, which can aggravate acne. Identify what aggravates your skin and avoid it.

Will I ever outgrow acne?

It all depends on the individual. Some people battle acne well into adulthood, but the good news is, you don't have to wait for acne to heal naturally. There are lots of medications available that can take care of zits long before you outgrow your acne years.

Is Acne Hereditary?

Yes, It's true: If your mom or dad had acne as a teen, there's a good chance you'll have it, too.  Why? Because acne runs in families- the tendency to develop it may pass from parent to child. Now for the good news. Acne treatments have come a long way since our parents were teens. So don't let DNA stand in your way; get treatment and get relief.

Doesn't some food cause acne?

Want a snack, but worried that your favourite foods cause acne? Forget about what you may have heard - there is no scientific evidence that chocolate, French fries or other greasy foods cause acne. On the other hand, if you think that your skin breaks out when you eat these things, it's best to avoid them (and probably healthier, too!)

To discover any food sensitivities, eliminate foods from your diet that you suspect make your acne worse. Then reintroduce them one at a time. If acne flares up 2 or 3 days after a food is eaten, leave it out of your diet. If not, you may eat it. Acne usually improves in the summer, so some foods that cannot be eaten in the winter may be tolerated in the summer. If the sun worsens your acne, protect yourself from the sun (which is a good idea in general). If stress causes outbreaks, work on reducing your stress level.

Can I pick or pop pimples?:

Hands off! You've heard it before: Never squeeze or pop your zits! This spreads inflammation, increases swelling and redness, and damages the delicate tissues under your skin. Your doctor uses an instrument called a Comedo extractor to remove your blackheads and whiteheads, so why can't you pop away? Unlike your fingers or other implement, the Comedo extractor does the job safely and cleanly.

Squeezing or poking pimples may be hard to resist, and you may think it speeds healing, but in fact it sets you up for more problems. Bacteria from your hands or from a non-sterile needle or pin can invade your skin, leading to more pimples and scarring. Hot compresses to bring pimples to a head are generally not recommended because heat may aggravate acne.

What about going out in the Sun?

Been catching some rays, hoping the sun will dry up your zits? Well if you thought a nice tan would improve your acne, you're wrong. If you've got acne you better stick to the shade because a sunburn actually increases your skin's oil production (not to mention increasing the risk of an even more serious situation, skin cancer). If you must go in the sun, be sure to use a "noncomedogenic" sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher.

Can I wear Makeup?

Whoa! Is that hair gel you're about to use good for your skin? Make sure any products you use on or near areas affected by acne are labelled "noncomedogenic" (non-acne-causing). Don't use cosmetics or hair/skin products that contain petroleum jelly (also listed as "petrolatum") or other products that can clog your pores and make acne worse.

I hate shaving when I have bad acne.

Is keeping your goatee, soul patch, or fur free face well-groomed a skin-irritating challenge? Here are some tips that can help:

Use a shaving gel instead of a cream. Use a double-bladed razor instead of an electric shaver. Shave in the shower where the steam helps to soften your whiskers. Shave only in the direction your hair grows.

How about sport?

If you're into sports, you should know that close-fitting athletic equipment (like this helmet's chinstrap) can irritate your skin. Tight clothing can do the same thing. And since skin irritation can make acne worse, it's best to avoid wearing these things. If you can't (i.e., you're the quarterback, or you love spandex), talk to your doctor.

Should I go to a Doctor?

Sure, nobody likes to go to the doctor. But when you've got severe acne, a doctor can be your best friend. Consider seeing a doctor for your acne if :

Non-prescription acne products have not worked for you

*You have acne scars as well as pimples

*You have large, painful acne bumps

*You have dark patches where pimples used to be

*You are not sure if your problem is acne

*You want a doctor's evaluation of your acne

How long should I take treatment?

Timing is everything when it comes to acne medication. Your treatment will work best when you take it at the time(s) and in the amount(s) that is recommended. Skipping doses or stopping treatment just means your zits will stick around longer. So do the right thing and follow your dosing schedule - your face will thank you later!

Practice common sense: Avoid resting your hands or objects on your face. Avoid wearing tight clothing or hats, especially if you'll be sweating. Sweat, dirt and oils can contribute to acne as well.

Consult with your physician or dermatologist if your acne is severe. WHEN AND IF YOUR ACNE IS MILD OR MODERATE trial and error is unavoidable until you find the best solution for you. It can be a hormonal or non-hormonal NON-PRESCRIPTION or NATURAL PRODUCT or a COMBINATION OF PRODUCTS depending on your specific condition and genetic nature.
