questions asked by concerned acne sufferers. We have chosen to print
the main queries placed to us as a guide for you. If you have a

Q. What causes acne?
A. The causes of acne are linked to the changes that take place as young people mature from childhood to adolescence (puberty). The hormones that cause physical maturation also cause the sebaceous (oil) glands of the skin to produce more sebum (oil). The hormones with the greatest effect on sebaceous glands are androgens (male hormones), which are present in females as well as males, but in higher amounts in males.
Sebaceous glands are found together with a hair shaft in a unit called a sebaceous follicle. During puberty, the cells of the skin that line the follicle begin to shed more rapidly. In people who develop acne, cells shed and stick together more so than in people who do not develop acne. When cells mix with the increased amount of sebum being produced, they can plug the opening of the follicle. Meanwhile, the sebaceous glands continue to produce sebum, and the follicle swells up with sebum.
In addition, a normal skin bacteria called P. acnes, nes, begins to multiply rapidly in the clogged hair follicle. In the process, these bacteria produce irritating substances that can cause inflammation. Sometimes, the wall of the follicle bursts, spreading inflammation to the surrounding skin. This is the process which acne lesions, from blackheads to pimples to nodules, are formed.
Q. Is acne curable?
A. Acne is not curable but it can be controlled. If there was a cure for it your Doctor would have prescribed it for you by now. We believe that the best treatment for Acne is a Natural Treatment. That is why we recommend Acne Getaway and Fresh Farmacy Cleansing Soap
Q How long will I suffer from Acne?
A Acne may last a lifetime. We have clients well into their 50's still suffering. It is an illness that involves hormones and the production of too much oil in the skin. It can be controlled with all natural Acne Getaway. Mostly though acne may last a few months or just a few years whilst in your teens years.
Q. I wash my face several times a day. Why do I still get acne?
A. Many people still believe that acne is caused by dirty skin. The truth is, washing alone will not clear up or prevent acne. Washing does, however, help remove excess surface oils and dead skin cells. Many people use all kinds of products, including alcohol-based cleansers, and scrub vigorously, only to irritate the skin further and worsen their acne. Washing the skin twice a day gently with water and a mild soap is usually all that is required. However, acne is actually caused by a variety of biologic factors that are beyond the control of washing. For that reason, you should use appropriate acne treatments for the acne.
Q Will eating lots of fruits and vegetables help to clear up my skin?
A Everyone should have a well-balanced diet to maintain health. We also recommend drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of clean water every day to help flush out the toxins in the body.
Q Can I pick at my pimples?
A NO!! HANDS OFF. Picking or squeezing your pimples will makes them worse because of the risk of infection. Picking can cause inflammation and lead to scarring - and you don't want that!! BUT - we know how difficult it is to leave that throbbing zit alone so we have placed a zit popping guide on line for you. CLICK HERE
Q Will the sun help fix my acne?
A The sun does not get rid of acne but small amounts may be beneficial. We recommend that if you suffer from acne then wear a hat at all times when in the sun and use the highest factor sun screen that you can get.
Q. Does stress cause acne?
A. Stress is commonly blamed for the development of acne. Stress can have many physiologic effects on the body, including changes in hormones that may theoretically lead to acne. In some cases, stress may actually be caused by the acne lesions, not the other way around! If the acne is being treated effectively, stress is not likely to have much impact on the majority of people.
Q I suffer from Blackheads - how can I treat them?
A Blackheads are a form of acne. These can be cleared by properly cleaning the pores using Fresh Farmacy Soap. After cleansing apply Acne Getaway to assist in the removal of deep ingrained dirt and to assist in the healing of the skin pores.
Q. I never had acne as a teenager. Why am I now getting acne as an adult?
A. Usually, acne begins at puberty and is gone by the early 20s. In some cases, acne may persist into adulthood. Such types of acne include severe forms that affect the body as well as the face (which afflict males more than females) and acne associated with the menstrual cycle in women. In other cases, acne may not present itself until adulthood. Such acne is more likely to affect females than males.
There are several reasons for this. As females get older, the pattern of changes in hormones may itself change, disposing sebaceous glands to develop acne. Ovarian cysts and pregnancy may also cause hormonal changes that lead to acne. Some women get acne when they discontinue birth control pills that have been keeping acne at bay. Sometimes young women may wear cosmetics that are comedogenic-that is, they can set up conditions that cause comedones to form.
Q. What kind of cosmetics and cleansers can an acne patient use?
A. Look for "non-comedogenic" cosmetics and toiletries. These products have been formulated so that they will not cause acne.
Some acne medications cause irritation or pronounced dryness particularly during the early weeks of therapy, and some cosmetics and cleansers can actually worsen this effect. The choice of cosmetics and cleansers should be made with your dermatologist or pharmacist.
Heavy foundation makeup should be avoided. Most acne patients should select powder blushes and eye shadow over cream products because they are less irritating and non-comedogenic. Camouflaging techniques can be used effectively by applying a green undercover cosmetic over red acne lesions to promote color blending.
Q I have used many acne treatments but many of them leave me with dry itching skin. Is Acne Getaway the same?
A Acne Getaway will not dry out your skin if used properly and in accordance with directions.
Q. Would using my medication more frequently than prescribed speed up the clearing of my acne?
A. No--always use Acne Getaway exactly as instructed. Using topical medications more often than prescribed may actually induce more irritation of the skin, redness and follicular plugging, which can delay clearing time.
Q I have old acne scars. Will Acne Getaway help eliminate these?
A We could say yes - but that may be a lie. It is difficult to say if all of your scars can be eliminated because we cannot evaluate your problem over the internet. Testimonials from previous users of Acne Getaway reveal that many have had success in ridding themselves of old acne scars with prolonged use of Acne Getaway.
Q. Acne Getaway seems to work on the spots I treat, but I keep getting new acne blemishes. What should I do?
A. Acne Getaway is made to be used on all acne-prone areas, not just individual lesions. Part of the goal is to treat the skin before lesions can form and to prevent formation, not just to treat existing lesions. Users of Acne Getaway are generally advised to treat all of the areas (forehead, cheeks, chin and nose) that tend to break out rather than just individual lesions.
Q I am very particular about my hygiene and wash my face several times a day. Why do I still get acne?
A Firstly acne is not caused by dirty skin. Blackheads are. Blackheads are ingrained dirt deep within the pores of your skin caused by improper cleaning or by using inadequate cleansing products. With respect to acne, washing your face too much may tend to over-stimulate the oil glands. We recommend that the only face cleanser to use is Acne Daily Face Wash from TP Health.
Q I have heard that you can use hydrogen peroxide on pimples and that if you put baking soda or toothpaste on them it helps. Is this true?
A Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic and will not help to heal your skin. In fact it can actually stop skin cell regrowth slowing down considerably the healing time. With respect to Baking Soda and Toothpaste this is not recommended. Baking Soda is for baking and toothpaste is for teeth. Otherwise they would be called Acne Soda and Acne Paste wouldn't they? The fluoride and other chemicals found in most toothpaste can actually harm the skin. It can cause the skin to turn red with a rash and may also infect pimples making the condition much worse.

A There are no contra-indications of using Acne Getaway whilst pregnant, however, if in doubt please consult your Health Care Professional
